What is HCMT

SAP's official infrastructure validation utility.

The SAP HANA Hardware and Cloud Measurement Tool (HCMT) is SAP's official infrastructure validation utility. It measures whether a target environment, on-premises or in the cloud, satisfies the compute, memory, storage, and network characteristics required to run SAP HANA in production.

HCMT is authored, maintained, and published directly by SAP. It is the same tool used across the SAP ecosystem to verify that an infrastructure platform is ready to host HANA workloads at production performance.

MomentumX runs HCMT on every SAP deployment, on both Sovereign Cloud and HyperEdge 500, before production handover. The generated reports are delivered as part of the deployment documentation.

What is HCMT?

SAP HANA Hardware and Cloud Measurement Tools (HCMT) is SAP's official infrastructure validation utility. It measures whether a compute, memory, storage, and network environment meets the performance requirements to run SAP HANA in production. HCMT is authored and maintained by SAP.

Why is infrastructure validation important?

SAP HANA is an in-memory database with strict performance requirements for CPU, memory bandwidth, storage latency and throughput, and inter-node networking. If any layer underperforms, HANA behaviour at production scale becomes unpredictable. Validating the infrastructure with SAP's own tool removes that uncertainty before production, using SAP's own definition of "ready".

Does HCMT replace SAP licensing?

No. HCMT is an infrastructure measurement utility. Your SAP software licenses, maintenance agreements, and support entitlements come from SAP directly and are unaffected by any infrastructure work we perform.

Can I continue opening SAP Support cases?

Yes. Customers with a valid SAP license, active SAP maintenance, and a supported SAP environment continue to open SAP Support cases according to SAP's standard support policies. The MomentumX infrastructure validation is a layer beneath your SAP stack; it does not alter your SAP support relationship.

Do customers receive the validation reports?

Yes. The HCMT reports generated during your deployment validation are delivered to your team as part of the deployment documentation package. Your SAP Basis team, infrastructure architects, and IT auditors receive the same evidence we use internally to sign off the environment.

Does MomentumX perform HCMT for every SAP deployment?
